Congratulations go to Professor Odile Liboiron-Ladouceur, who has been awarded the recognition of Photonics100 of 2025.
Congratulations to Samuel Dayo, Ataollah Saeed Monir, Mousa Karimi, and Professor Boris Vaisband on their paper titled "Statistical Weight Refresh System for CTT-Based Synaptic Arrays." The paper was presented at the ACM/IEEE Great Lakes Symposium on VLSI 2023. We are proud to announce that their work received the second-place Best Poster/Late Breaking Research (LBR) Award. ACM/IEEE GLSVLSI showcases cutting-edge research and innovations in VLSI design and provides a platform for experts to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.
We are proud to announce that Yousef Safari, a PhD candidate in our Department, is the recipient of the prestigious IEEE Electronic Packaging Society (EPS) PhD Fellowship for 2023. Yousef鈥檚 work in large-scale heterogeneous integration has earned him this honor. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to witnessing his continued success in the field.

Congratulations to听authors: Xi Chen, Ju Wang, Hang Li, Yi Tian Xu, Di Wu, Xue Liu, Gregory Dudek, Taeseop Lee (Samsung Korea)y, Intaik Park (Samsung Korea) for their paper entitled:听听One for All: Traffic Prediction at Heterogeneous 5G Edge with Data-Efficient Transfer Learning.听 It was presented at IEEE Globecome 2021 and awarded Best Paper.听听

Congratulations go to Professor Fran莽ois Bouffard, who is the winner of this year鈥檚 Faculty of Engineering Outstanding Academic Service Award. The award speaks to the impact Professor Bouffard has had on the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) community, recognizing his continuing dedication to the students as well as his commitment and contribution to student affairs in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
ECE Professor Thomas Szkopek and Professor Marta Cerruti (Mining and Materials Engineering) lead the team that has recently obtained CFI funding through the Canada Foundation for Innovation鈥檚 (CFI) Innovation Fund competition for their project Functional Atomic-scale Materials Engineering (FAME).

The proposal "Central Bank Digital Currency with Asymmetric Privacy", by Professor Christophe Dubach (ECE), and Professor Katrin Tinn (Desautels Faculty of Management) has been chosen as one of the top three proposals by the Bank of Canada for the Model X Challenge.
Three ECE students were rewarded for their exceptional promise as future power engineers by the Institute of Electric Power Engineering (IEPE) at their annual scholarship award ceremony held virtually on December 4th, 2020. Saul Valery Cano (U4 Electrical Engineering) was a awarded the Schneider Electric Scholarship valued at $3000. Helene Ma Yang and Xavier Pellemans (both U4 Electrical Engineering) received one of the Jean-Jacques-Archambault prizes awarded by Hydro-Qu茅bec. Helene听was awarded a $4000 scholarship, while Xavier grabbed the top $5000 award.
Congratulations to Carolyn Curiale, who was the 2019-2020 Award winner in the M & Excluded category for the Principal鈥檚 Award: Administrative and Support Staff. We are all very proud of Carolyn and are pleased to see her recognized for the contributions she has made to the Department and the Faculty.
Congratulations to Professor Amin Emad of ECE and his team, who won the Omics Data Against Cancer (ODAC) competition to develop AI models to predict response to drug combinations in poor-outcome cancer patients.
