In this talk\, Dr. Jack Westfall not only unpacks the problem but shows how practice-based research networks and community-b ased participatory research can respond in meaningful ways for patients\, clinicians\, communities – and yes – even researchers. “Blue Highway” invo kes the metaphor of old highway maps of America\, where the main routes we re red and the back roads blue. Dr. Westfall will encourage researchers to explore the off-the-beaten-track of practice-based research and give exam ples of how rural communities can leverage research knowledge and know-how to make a meaningful impact not only for patients but on entire communiti es. ĢƵ DFM’s own Dr. Ann MacAulay\, founder of Participatory Research at ĢƵ (PRaM)\, has been very influential in Jack’s work\, and we are h onoured to learn from what he has learned!\n\nThis seminar is being organi zed by the ĢƵ Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN).\n\nSeminar title : Mystery of the Blue Highway\n\nSpeaker: Jack Westfall (will be speaking in-person)\n\nWhen: Friday September 22nd\, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.\n\nWhere: hybrid\, in-person attendees will be hosted at 5858\, chemin de la Côte-d es-Neiges (third floor)\n\nRegister here \n\n\n Research Seminar Series\n\n Every month\, a research seminar is held at the Department of Family Medic ine\, where we feature visiting researchers from other universities\, or d epartments\, and showcase the work of our own researchers. The seminars ar e attended by our graduate students\, researchers and clinicians\, and are open to the whole ĢƵ community. They address a wide range of research methods and topics relevant to primary health care\, and provide opportun ity for interaction and exchange with the speakers. The Research Seminars are Fridays at around noon.\n\n DTSTART:20230922T163000Z DTEND:20230922T173000Z SUMMARY:Research Seminar: Mystery of the Blue Highway with Jack Westfall URL:/familymed/channels/event/research-seminar-mystery -blue-highway-jack-westfall-350215 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
