  Drapeau. The Alcuin Society is delighted to present Montreal Bookbinder O
 dette Drapeau with the twelfth Robert R. Reid prize and medal for lifetime
  achievement in the Book Arts in Canada for 2020.\n\nWe will celebrate thi
 s extraordinary artist on February 8th\, 2023 with a medal presentation by
  David Carruthers and Denise LaPointe of Papeterie Saint-Armand\, former r
 ecipients of the Robert R. Reid medal. Hear from Odette about her work\, i
 nspiration and practice\, and see examples of her fine art bindings at thi
 s bilingual event. Some portions of the event will take place in French\,

 file pédagogue et novatrice dans la pratique de la reliure d’art\, Odette 
 Drapeau a fondé l’atelier de reliure d’art La Tranchefile à Montréal en 19
 79. Membre de l’Académie royale des arts du Canada\, elle a présidé l’Asso
 ciation des relieurs du Québec entre 1988 et 1991. Ses œuvres ont fait l’o
 bjet de près de 50 expositions individuelles et collectives en Europe\, au
  Canada et aux États-Unis.\n\nAu long de cinq décennies Drapeau a perfecti
 onné son travail à un niveau d’excellence impressionnant. Grâce à des maté
 riaux innovants comme des cuirs marins\, des fibres de haute technologie e
 t des lumières LED et ses merveilleuses textures et couleurs\, elle a réal
 isé un magnifique ensemble d’œuvres d’art ».\n\n--\n\nA leading educator a
 nd innovator in the practice of art bookbinding\, Drapeau founded the art 
 bookbinding studio La Tranchefile in Montreal in 1979. A member of the Roy
 al Canadian Academy of Arts\, she chaired the Association des relieurs du 
 Québec between 1988 and 1991. Her works have been the subject of nearly 50
  individual and collective exhibitions in Europe\, Canada and the United S
 tates.\n\nOver five decades\, Drapeau has perfected her work to an impress
 ive level of excellence. Using innovative materials like marine leathers\,
  high-tech fibers and LED lights and her wonderful textures and colors\, s
