On this page: Independent study awayÌý´¥ Quebec Inter-University Transfer | Going on exchange | Explore program ´¥ÌýMore global learning opportunities

Any coursework completed at another university while you are a Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ student must be pre-approved for equivalency to ensure the credits will transfer to your Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ student record (see below for instructions). Any request to transfer credits without pre-approval will be refused.

Students completing prerequisite courses after being admitted to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ must take them at a university-level institution (not CEGEP).

Courses completed through any of these programs cannot be taken with the satisfactory/unsatisfactory grading option.

Independent study away

A student stands with arms spread wide in a desert landscape´¡²ÔÌýindependent study away is when a Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ student applies, registers, takes courses and pays tuition to another accredited degree granting institution.

You must be registered at the host university as a visiting, non-degree student and take courses that are part of their undergraduate curriculum, taught by their faculty members. You'll receive an official transcript from the host university and the study away term will appear on your Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ transcript.

Eligibility

To qualify for independent study away, students must:

  • Have a minimum CGPA of 2.7 at the time of application (2.0 CGPA for the summer term)
  • Have not already received the maximum number of transfer credits
  • Register with the  (unless the course is online)

  7. Your Minerva record will be updated to non-resident Term Away status for the term(s) that you will be away. You will no longer be able to register for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ courses in that term and any Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ courses that you were already registered for will be dropped. If your plans change, you will not be automatically re-registered for these courses.
    • For summer term: Your status will not be updated to Term Away in your Minerva record until mid-July, to allow access to summer course registration at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ. Once your status is updated, you will not be able to register for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ summer courses in Minerva.
