Plasticity persists beyond this\, aiding learning and repair. I investigated visual plasticity using fMRI with fluoxetine administration ( a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor – SSRI)\, in adult primates\, rev ealing neural changes during top-down behavioral manipulations. In a first part\, involving three distinct visual tasks coupling both top-down and b ottom-up mechanisms\, I will describe the effect of fluoxetine administrat ion on visual and attentional features. Then\, I will characterize these e ffects on the whole brain functional connectivity (fMRI) changes following an extensive reward-based learning of novel spatial contingencies\, befor e and after the impact of fluoxetine. The general decorrelation between th e ventral and dorsal visual pathways\, observed following reward-based per ceptual learning\, is further enhanced in the presence of the SSRI. Finall y\, I will show that while activations patterns in visual area V2 track th e spatial priority map constructed through the reward-based learning\, the se effects are greatly enhanced by fluoxetine.\n\n\nThe Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2 014)\, Former Director of the Neuro (1972–1984)\, to constantly bridge the clinical and research realms. The talks will highlight the latest advance s and discoveries in neuropsychology\, cognitive neuroscience\, and neuroi maging.\n\nSpeakers will include scientists from across The Neuro\, as wel l as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The s eries is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees t o continue to foster interdisciplinary exchanges on the mechanisms\, diagn osis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.\n\n \n DTSTART:20231023T170000Z DTEND:20231023T180000Z LOCATION:De Grandpre Communications Centre\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series: Behavioral and Pharmacologic al Enhancement of Plasticity in the Adult Macaque Visual Cortex URL:/neuro/channels/event/feindel-brain-and-mind-semin ar-series-behavioral-and-pharmacological-enhancement-plasticity-adult-3511 74 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
