It then looks at two of his four works in some amou nt of detail. It seems that his French sojourn insulated him from the ques tions of Arminianism\, hypothetical universalism\, the nature of Christ’s atonement \, the extent of Divine Election and the content of Federal Theo logy: in other words all the things that divided the Reformed cause in the early decades of the seventeenth century. In conclusion it will be argued that his stressing the ‘sixteenth-century’-sounding controversies of the clarity and authority of Scripture\, the meaning of Justification and a re sistance to recent Catholic Apologetics would provide a continuity between the Scottish Reformations of Knox and Melville\, and that which united th e otherwise fissiparous Scottish Reformed theology of 1638 onwards.\n DTSTART:20221024T203000Z DTEND:20221024T213000Z LOCATION:Birks Heritage Chapel\, Birks Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3520 rue University SUMMARY:Guest Lecture: John Sharp (1572–1647) URL:/religiousstudies/channels/event/guest-lecture-joh n-sharp-1572-1647-342393 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
