Dr. Blanchard is Assistant Professor\, Dept. of Architecture\, Design\, & Media Technology\, Aalberg University\, Denmark. Using examples of his o wn research projects\, Dr. Blanchard will be discussing some of the ways H II is employed in this field\, from the digitizing of expertise and the de velopment of serious games grounded on motivational principles\, to the cr eation of culturally-aware tutoring systems and similar culturally-aware i nformation technologies. He will conclude by providing additional reflecti ons on emerging research trends where HII-specific developments appear to be extremely promising. Human-Information Interaction (HII) is a construc t that has been recently emerging. Taken from the perspective of communic ation and information theories\, it can be understood as a spinoff of Hu man-Computer Interaction. Its focus is on connections between human being s and ambient information\, rather than on communications characterized b y interaction with non-human agents. Despite the novelty of this research field\, scholars have indeed been dealing with HII for years without nam ing it. Everyone is welcome.
