MONTREAL - A day after claiming the top spot in the country in the Maclean's magazine university rankings, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ has moved up on the world stage as well, rising to 11th place from 19th in the Times Higher Education rankings for clinical, pre-clinical and health education.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ followed the University of Oxford, which placed first, and Harvard University, which placed second - signaling that Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ continues to earn its reputation as the ivy league school of the north.

Dr. Samuel Benaroya, interim vice-principal of health affairs and interim dean of medicine at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, said he was pleased the university was recognized internationally for its fine work.

"Shaping the next generation of doctors and scientists is at the heart of all we do at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ's Faculty of medicine and in its community of outstanding teaching hospitals," he said.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Principal Heather Munroe-Blum said it was "gratifying to be consistently recognized among the world's best."
