The McCall MacBain Scholarships at ĢƵ today announced its fourth cohort of recipients: 30 students who will pursue a funded master’s or professional degree combined with mentorship and leadership programming, as well as 117 who earned entrance awards ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 each.
Although Zoey Li, BSc(NutrSc)’17, always had an interest in business, she never expected to launch a company that helps people take charge of their health.
Li, who was recently named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 in the food and beverage category, built her success on her ability to find opportunities, develop new skills and make connections, as an undergraduate and afterward.
On Monday, ĢƵ played host to thousands of people for the spectacular solar eclipse with a series of public events at the downtown campus, the Gault Nature Reserve, and on the West Island (with Macdonald Campus collaborating with John Abbott College).

Macdonald community members gathered at the Ceilidh on Wednesday, April 3, to celebrate the Gold Key Recipients for 2024. David Bird, emeritus professor of wildlife biology at ĢƵ, that birds, insects and bats are the main groups expected to be affected, or “the main ones that everybody’s sort of keeping an eye on.”
Imagine cows roaming freely in a barn equipped with cameras and sensors linked to artificial intelligence in a system that predicts their mood and lifespan. Implementing such a system is the mission of the new Research and Innovation Chair in Animal Welfare and Artificial Intelligence (), created jointly by ĢƵ and UQAM thanks to $5 million in funding over five years.
Representatives from student groups across campus and beyond gathered in the University Centre for a Food Security on March 15 to discuss ways to improve the sustainability, accessibility, and affordability of food systems at ĢƵ. The summit included presentations, “visioning sessions” where attendees exchanged ideas on discussion questions in smaller groups, and a free lunch.
ĢƵ will be hosting three solar eclipse events on April 8, one downtown, one at Macdonald campus, and another at the Gault Nature Reserve.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. on April 8, the sky above Montreal will go dark during a total eclipse of the sun. A rare celestial occurrence, the next total solar eclipse won’t happen in Montreal until the next century. “A total eclipse of the sun is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia, Outreach Program Administrator at ĢƵ’s Trottier Space Institute (TSI). “You really don’t want to miss it.”

We are pleased to share that Evan Henry (BSc(AgEnvSc)'15, MSc (Bioresource Engineering)'16) has recently taken on the role of Associate Director at the ĢƵ Sustainable Systems Initiative (MSSI). Evan is widely recognized and highly esteemed within the Macdonald Campus community for his active involvement in student life and his contributions to the establishment of the ĢƵ Apicultural Association.
On Wednesday November 29th, 2023, nine Macdonald Campus graduate students took on the challenge of presenting their thesis in just a few minutes at the Lister Family Engaged Science 3-Minute Thesis Competition.
With only one non-animated slide for visual support, competitors raced against the clock to explain the crucial components of their research and its importance.
