2025 Science Undergraduate Research Awards (SURA)

Science Undergraduate Research Awards - SURAs - are for both Canadian and international Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ students registered in a science undergraduate program. First offered in Summer 2007, SURAs are made possible by funding from the Dean of Science and participating research supervisors.Ìý SURAs are broadly similar to theÌýNSERC USRA; two differences are, on the student side, thatÌýinternational students may apply,Ìýand on the supervisor side, that they must hold a research grant from CRC, NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC, FQRNT, or FRSQ (it is not restricted to NSERC grant holders).

Value for 2025:

Source of funding:ÌýÌý$8950 minimum (donor and/or Faculty of Science: $5000/supervisor: $3950 minimum)

Requirements:

15 weeks of full-time research.

Awarded on basis of academic merit, in accordance with departmental selection procedures.

Open to both Canadian and international students from Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ.

The deadline for the student to submit final SURA dossiers to the Mathematics and Statistics Department is February 24, 2025 before 4:30 pm.ÌýÌýEvery application must include a scenario for a remotely-supervised project that the student can start and finish remotely.
