Application Deadline

The application form and all supporting documents (including letters of recommendation and test scores) must be received by January 15th for the academic year beginning the following Fall (September). The application deadline for domestic applicants (Canadian Citizens/ Permanent Residents of Canada) is extended to June 21st. However, applications must be fully submitted by January 15th to be considered for TISED funding.

Application Form

Applicants are required to apply on-line and pay the non-refundable application fee by credit card. Upon submitting the payment, the applicant will be able to upload the required supporting documents.

Supporting Documents

The following supporting documents must be uploaded to the on-line application by the application deadline. All supporting documents can be written in either English or French.

  • Letters of Reference: all applicants must arrange for two (2) letters of reference, at least one of which must be from a current or past professor, from individuals who can comment on the candidate's interest and potential for competence in undertaking the M.Eng: Sustainability in Engineering and Design. Referees will be emailed a link to submit their reference online using the contact information provided in the application form, which must include a valid institutional email address.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): a copy of a current CV which includes a summary of the academic background, professional experience, if applicable, and other relevant activities (e.g., community involvement, volunteer work, etc.).
  • Personal Statement: a one-page personal statement describing the motivation for applying to the program, their background, research interests and/or program streams of interest.
  • Transcripts: copies of official transcripts for the entire university-level academic record to date, including all programs (complete, incomplete, and/or in progress), student exchanges and transfer credits. Transcripts and degree certificates in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by official English translations. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ transcripts will be uploaded automatically, but applicants must create separate records for any student exchanges or transfer credits. Incomplete or inaccurate applications that are submitted can significantly delay or even prevent an admission decision. The applicant must, therefore, verify the following before submitting the application:
    • Ensure that the title of the degree matches what is officially indicated on the transcripts, e.g., B.Eng., B.Sc., Título de Ingeniero, Diplôme d’Ingénieur (Diploma of Engineer), etc. 'Bachelor' or 'Master' should be entered if there is no complete match.
    • Ensure that the year that a degree was granted matches what is officially indicated on the transcripts.
    • Ensure that a copy of the degree certificate (diploma) is included if the transcript does not indicate that the degree has been conferred. For degrees that follow the British system, the overall standing should be included, if applicable.
    • Ensure that each transcript includes the key or legend.
    • Ensure that a separate record has been created for every institution mentioned in the transcripts that you upload, even if the grades for those institutions are already reflected in the transcript. This includes institutions where transfer credits were received, or where exchange terms were taken. The only exceptions are high schools and Québec CEGEPs.
    • Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ's online application will require the applicant to enter the CGPA for the main degree(s). Links provided in this section will lead you to resources to help determine the CGPA. TISED recognizes that this is a complicated process. The applicant should not spend too much time on this detail; incorrect entries here will not affect the application.

Completeness of the Application

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary documents (including letters of recommendation) are uploaded to their on-line application by the application deadline. Applications may not be evaluated if they are incomplete.
