How are Montrealers keeping fit?

Starting today, gyms and fitness centers in Montreal officially closed their doors until the end of the month. This comes after the Quebec government announced new measures which prohibit team sports and close fitness facilities until October 28th. So how is everyone staying fit with the new restrictions in place?

Congratulations to Alessandra Amato on her poster presentation at the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting from September 11-15, 2020 titled ‘Evaluating the Muscle-Bone Unit in Severe Obesity with and without Type 2 Diabetes”. The conference annually connects over 3,000 scientists from around the world for the premier scientific program presenting cutting-edge research in the bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal field.

In this “From Failing Hands” podcast excerpt, ĢƵ Education’s Dr. Gordon Bloom (Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education) discusses sport psychology in high performance, as a vital training component for professional athletes and others in high-pressure scenarios. Dr. Bloom highlights the need for athletes to not only train their bodies but to also train their minds and be resilient in order to prepare for competition and performance. He further reiterates that this is an ongoing process; not a quick fix.

As principal investigator for the research being done inExercise and Nutrition to Support Skeletal Muscle Health Across the Lifespan, Dr.Churchward-Vennewill receive$344,957 from JELF; $344,957 matching provincial funds.

EDPE 595: Seminar in Special Topics-- Introduction to Professional Engagement with Indigenous Peoples in Canada is a graduate level course that is also open to to advanced undergraduate students, with permission of the instructor.Taught by Professor Dennis Wendt on Tuesdays at 11:35 AM to 2:35 PM (EST), this course provides an introduction to key considerations pertaining to professional engagement with Indigenous Peoples in Canada, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
